FAQ & Policies
General Information
How is the XFormer different from other Pilates Reformer machines?
The XFormer machine features unique elements such as front and back stationary platforms with intelligently located slots, a mobile carriage with springs for resistance, and various straps and handles that allow a much broader range of strength training exercises compared to traditional Reformer machines, making it ideal for a dynamic, full-body workout.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up on our website and by downloading our custom Apple and Android apps (icons in our footer!).
Are Resistance classes suitable for beginners and athletes?
Yes, our classes are designed for individuals of all fitness levels. There are several different ways we can modify any exercise on the XFormer, from decreasing the resistance level and changing the range of motion to adjusting the position on the XFormer to make it simpler or more challenging. Our expert instructors are here to help modify exercises to suit your individual needs.
Can I do the workout if I have injuries or health conditions?
We encourage you to consult a trained physician for clearance to attend class. There are over 180 Resistance moves and our trained instructors can always tailor the workout to meet your needs. Please let the instructor know of any ailments so they can offer modifications.
What are your posting and filming policies?
We love seeing your posts and being tagged on your socials! Feel free to snap photos or take videos before and after class to capture the vibe. However, to respect the privacy and experience of all our clients, filming during class is not permitted without prior approval from the studio. Thanks for helping us keep the space comfortable and welcoming for everyone.
What should I bring to my first Resistance class?
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your first class for an introduction to the XFormer machine and the studio. Bring grip socks and a water bottle. If you don’t have grip socks, they are available for purchase at the studio and are included in our introductory promotion! Arrive with an open mind. This is not a classical Pilates studio, but strength-training fitness. You will sweat, your muscles will shake, you will be sore. It often takes a few classes to get familiar with the programming and moves, but once you get it, you won’t want to stop!
How often should I take the class?
The amount of time you will need to recover depends on your fitness level and the intensity of your workout. Most clients see results within a month when they attend 3-5 times a week. Just be sure to listen to your body and allow it to properly recover.
What if I’m pregnant?
Strength training is known to have beneficial effects during pregnancy—our owner even worked out on the XFormer during both of her pregnancies. However, you should always consult your doctor before attending classes. For clients who are pregnant and new to working out, we do not recommend starting classes without a doctor’s note and consultation with one of our owners. Clients who have been regularly attending classes may continue working out with us, as long as they’ve received written approval from their doctor. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Is there an age requirement to take the class?
The minimum age to take class is 18. Any clients under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign their waiver prior to taking their first Resistance class.
Are children allowed in the studio?
We’re a family-owned studio, and you may occasionally see our own daughters helping out behind the scenes. They’ve been trained to safely interact with the equipment and are always supervised when present during classes.
That said, to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone in class, we kindly ask that clients do not bring children into the studio during class time.
This policy helps us:
-
Keep the space safe — our equipment is not designed for children and can pose a risk if handled improperly.
-
Maintain a focused, distraction-free environment for all clients and instructors.
-
Meet our insurance and safety obligations as a professional training space.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to keep the studio welcoming, safe, and effective for everyone.
What amenities are available at the studio?
We have lockers, a filtered water fountain, dry shampoo, hair ties, and deodorant.
Can I pay for a class in cash or with a check?
We operate a cashless studio. You can buy packages, socks, gift cards and merchandise through our mobile app or website.
Do you have gift cards?
Yes, we do! You can choose the amount you want to give. Gift cards are available for purchase online or via our app.
Policies/Procedures
Are grip socks required for resistance classes?
Yes, grip socks are mandatory for safety and hygiene reasons. All introductory offers include a free pair of branded grip socks and we are pretty proud of our fun selection! You can also purchase a pair online or on the app, and you can pick them up at the studio.
What if I’m late to class?
Existing clients: Classes begin promptly, and out of respect for the coach and other participants — as well as for your own safety — we’re unable to admit anyone once class has started.
New clients: For their safety, new clients must arrive at least 10 minutes before class for an introduction to the studio and the machine. If you show up and the instructor is not able to let you into class, email us and we’ll credit the class back to your account.
Life happens—we get it. These rules are created for safety reasons and out of respect for the instructor and the rest of the class’s experience. Thank you for your understanding.
Cancellation Policy
Resistance classes book up quickly and we often have waitlists! So to ensure all our clients get fair access to an Xformer, we have a policy that clients are responsible for canceling their class at least 8 hours in advance. Our app makes it easy to cancel! Just go to bookings, find the class you want to cancel and select “cancel.”
- Packages & Subscriptions: A late cancellation (within 8 hours) or a no-show will result in losing your session.
- Unlimited Intro Packages: A late cancellation (within 8 hours) will incur a $10 fee and a no-show will incur a $15 fee.
- Late Arrival: Classes begin promptly, and out of respect for the coach and other participants — as well as for your own safety — we’re unable to admit anyone once class has started.
One-Time and Emergencies Forgiveness: We get it—life happens! We have kids. That’s why we offer a one-time forgiveness and emergency exceptions for a late cancellation or no-show. Email info@studioresistance.com.
Waitlist Policy
Full class? Get on the waitlist!
Resistance classes book up fast, but our waitlist moves fast as well! If it’s within your schedule, we encourage you to get on the waitlist.
Here’s how our waitlist system works:
Signing up for the waitlist is like signing up for class in that it will only allow you to sign up if you have a credit or a payment method on file
You are responsible for removing yourself from the waitlist if your plans change and you no longer wish to attend.
If a space becomes available, the system will automatically try to book the first person on the waitlist.
You may be automatically added to the class anytime up to 2 hours before the start time if a spot opens up. If you are added to class, our normal policies apply.
You can check your waitlist position in your account, and if you’re added to the class, you’ll receive an email/ SMS confirmation.
After the 2-hour cutoff, automatic booking stops. If a spot opens after this point, all remaining waitlisted clients will receive an email/SMS — and the first person to respond and claim the spot will be added to class.
